HISTORY OF TSAVORITE
Tsavorite is a variety of green garnet discovered in 1967 by British gemologist Campbell Bridges. Its name refers to the Tsavo region of Kenya, where it was originally found.
Despite the difficulties encountered due to unstable geographical and political conditions, tsavorite eventually attracted the attention of the jewelry industry and gemstone collectors alike. Its sublime color and exceptional brilliance made it a highly prized stone.
Tsavorite production in Kenya has gradually evolved towards more sustainable practices, with greater emphasis on environmental preservation and the well-being of local communities. Initiatives to promote ethical gem trading have been put in place to ensure that mining benefits local communities and does not lead to environmental degradation.
